By all these lovely tokens
September days are here,
With summer’s best of weather
And autumn’s best of cheer.

Helen Hunt Jackson - September
The breezes taste
Of apple peel.
The air is full
Of smells to feel-
Ripe fruit, old footballs,
Burning brush,
New books, erasers,
Chalk, and such.
The bee, his hive,
Well-honeyed hum,
And Mother cuts
Like plates washed clean
With suds, the days
Are polished with
A morning haze.

@sumant - It would be difficult for me to help you with this, as I've no idea what company you work for. You could start by carrying out a SWOT analysis.

@tamhuynh in my case what really halped me is watching animes with subtitles, I was like reading and watching the scene so that I could understand at first, but now I got used to it, watch whatever you like with subtiltles but be patient.

@zakaria_dandouni1 isnt it difficult to watch movie n read sub at the same time.
  • BubblyBubbly Posts: 29,890 ✭✭✭✭
Sometimes the speed of subtitle is fast so it isn't syc well with the scene. But it also helps in memorizing words n even sentences.

yes @bubbli ,I agree with you not just sometimes it's almost always, you can pause it for a moment, read and play .

I dont watch movies with subtitles as it irritates me. I try to focus on my listening skills and I am happy that I am improving it!

Could you please place the comment box at the top? It's so weird to go all the way down and scribble something ;)
  • aprilapril Moderator Posts: 11,226 mod
But you need to read the last comment first before responding, @seanyluvz .
If the comment box is at the top you have to scroll up again to write your answer. :)

    "The" or not????
I bet with my friend about which sentence is right:

    1) The machine is broken by "the" faults of our staff
    2) The machine is broken by faults of our staff

Plz show me if you know. thank you!

American English is adapted from British English what I think. I am a true believer of British English as it has its own glorious history.
  • TeachTeach Your Teacher HomePosts: 10,478 mod
    Neither is correct.

The machine is broken. It was the staff's fault.

Our problem when we are reading an English text and we try to pronounce words in a correct way (stress and pronunciation) we will find frequently different information in different dictionaries.
    It makes us crazy!
What will be your advice, @Lynne, before we give up on it?

  • TeachTeach Your Teacher HomePosts: 10,478 mod
@april - Always go with your feelings, and only worry if people can't understand you, or misunderstand you.
  • aprilapril Moderator Posts: 11,226 mod
Yes, @Lynne, but then we'll have different opinions too and indeed we always finish our discussion about it with: "All of those pronunciations are correct!"

@Tai Nguyen, I guess it is: The mashine is broken by the faults of our staff.

Why did they use 'the' before 'sense' and 'hostility', but not before 'convenience'? :/

'The sense that some people are using them for convenience is stoking the hostility.'
