By all these lovely tokens
September days are here,
With summer’s best of weather
And autumn’s best of cheer.

Helen Hunt Jackson - September
The breezes taste
Of apple peel.
The air is full
Of smells to feel-
Ripe fruit, old footballs,
Burning brush,
New books, erasers,
Chalk, and such.
The bee, his hive,
Well-honeyed hum,
And Mother cuts
Chrysanthemums.
Like plates washed clean
With suds, the days
Are polished with
A morning haze.

This is a play on man and pampering, to describe how men have begun adopting the same skin routines as women.

According to research company Mintel, in 2014, total U.S. sales for the men's personal care market hit $4.1 billion, up 6.7 percent from 2012 and 19 percent from 2009, making it one of the fastest-growing segments of the beauty industry.

I don't think this is all that new @Lynne. Even ten years ago, at least in the City of London, I was bemused by my male colleagues who were fussing about face cream and fancy products geared to men.

Maybe it's just because I live with a cave man @mheredge‌. God help the hairdresser who tries to put any "product" in his hair.

Don't you know how to handle cave men's hair @Lynne?
