AM/PM Session - 12 September 2017 - Smart cities of the future
We read an article which questioned whether anyone is asking what people really want in smart cities of the future:
Vocabulary Top 10:
dark underbelly - a part of society, an organization, etc., that is hidden and usually unpleasant
inner-city - the central section of a large city where mostly poor people live
pessimistic - having or showing a lack of hope for the future : expecting bad things to happen
cluster - a group of things or people that are close together
segregation - the practice or policy of keeping people of different races, religions, etc., separate from each other
bland - not interesting or exciting; lacking strong flavor
entity - something that exists by itself : something that is separate from other things
mandate - an official order to do something
inducement - something that gives you a reason for doing something and makes you want to do it
genuine - actual, real, or true : not false or fake
What would you like to see in a smart city?
What ideas have you heard that you don´t think we really need to have?
