"Still lie the sheltering snows, undimmed and white;
And reigns the winter's pregnant silence still;
No sign of spring, save that the catkins fill,
And willow stems grow daily red and bright.
These are days when ancients held a rite
Of expiation for the old year's ill,
And prayer to purify the new year's will."

What kinds of certificates people can get in your country?

Hi guys, let's discuss a new topic. Here it is: What kinds of certificates people can get in your country and what the criteria are for citizens who want to acquire these certificates?

In China, there are hundreds of certificates that citizens can ask for, but there are restrictions about age, educational levels and sorts of things.

    I know that some countries seem to like certificates for everything. I think in the UK they are usually awarded for things that are more significant than say, in Nepal where mere attendance at a seminar or workshop can often result in a certificate.

    The same in China, if you want to be a doctor or a nurse or a teacher, you have to have these related certificates. @mheredge And there are thousands of exams relating to these certificates, similiarly, there are various vocational schools or educational institutions in order to help people to achieve these certificates smoothly. @mheredge

    Certificates for exams are important to provide employers with the proof of qualifications they want for the job, but some certificates that just confirm attendance at courses are meaningless. They don't prove the person has learned anything at all @lisa.

    But we have to get the related certificates, otherwise, we are forbiden to conduct the jobs, which makes most people headache. @mheredge
