"Still lie the sheltering snows, undimmed and white;
And reigns the winter's pregnant silence still;
No sign of spring, save that the catkins fill,
And willow stems grow daily red and bright.
These are days when ancients held a rite
Of expiation for the old year's ill,
And prayer to purify the new year's will."

The greenhouse

javierjavier Posts: 287 ✭✭
The natural greenhouse effect makes life possible. However, humans, have intensified the natural phenomenon, causing global warming.

The phenomenon is called greenhouse effect by which certain gases, which are components of the planetary atmosphere, retain part of the energy that the soil emits by having been heated by solar radiation. .

Currently CO2 in the atmosphere is growing unnaturally because of humans, who are releasing carbon. Therefore it is necessary to differentiate between the natural greenhouse effect caused by human (or anthropogenic) activities.

    There is also an excellent film with Leonardo di Caprio on the same subject, that came out a lot more recently. Both are excellent.
