On this breezy October morn, I walk
in the swift shadows of cloud-cursing rooks,
watching the world wake on the horizon.

All houses wherein men have lived and died
Are haunted houses. Through the open doors
The harmless phantoms on their errands glide,
With feet that make no sound upon the floors.

We meet them at the doorway, on the stair,
Along the passages they come and go,
Impalpable impressions on the air,
A sense of something moving to and fro.

Differents between Bank Holiday and Public Holiday

I found out these two words on an English dictation: "Bank Holiday" and "Public Holiday"
I've searched on internet the meaning and I found out the the Bank Holiday is when banks and most businesses are closed for a day.
But what about Public Holiday. Isn't the same thing ?
What are the real differents between these two holiday ?

If you google this, the first answer you see is the UK government definition that says
'The term “bank” holiday is used interchangeably with “public” holiday. For all practical purposes there is no difference. There is, however, an academic difference between bank holidays derived from statute and public holidays at common law (such as Christmas Day in England and Wales).'
