Variation of the əʊ sound (like in Show) in British English
I read the əʊ sound changes a bit when an L follows, making it sound more like it was ɒʊ (ɒ is the sound in Hot), according to this site: (scroll down to Diphthongs)
Is it true? in which dialects does it happen? And how do I make it? Thanks in advance.
